The women's Volleyball European Championship begins today in Istanbul, with this year's tournament being held simultaneously across four host countries. Latvia's national team will open its campaign against the strong host nation, Turkey, with the match starting at 19:00.

Ahead of this key encounter, team leader Marta Levinska spoke to Latvian Television about the squad's living and preparation conditions in Istanbul. She said the team feels ready for intense, physically demanding contests, the kind expected right from the tournament's opening stage against one of the favorites.

Where to watch

All of Latvia's matches at the European Championship, as well as the tournament's decisive knockout-stage games, will be broadcast live on the LTV7 television channel. Viewers will also be able to follow the matches online via the LSM.lv portal and the REplay.lv streaming platform.

This year's women's European Championship stands out because matches are being played across several host countries at once, allowing national teams to compete closer to their home audiences in different European cities. For Latvia, the opening clash against the hosts will be one of the toughest tests of the tournament's early stage.
