LFF Analysis Reveals Major Refereeing Errors in May Matches
The Latvian Football Federation's analysis of May refereeing decisions found two crucial errors in favor of 'Riga' – disallowing a goal for 'Liepāja' and not awarding a penalty to 'Grobiņa'.

The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has published an analysis of refereeing incidents in the 'Tonybet' Virslīga for May, reviewing 10 situations. Two significant errors occurred in the second halves at Skonto Stadium: a goal by 'Liepāja' was incorrectly disallowed at 0-1 (final score 0-1), and a penalty was not awarded to 'Grobiņa' when trailing 0-1 (final 0-2), which also should have resulted in a player advantage for 'Grobiņa'.
The analysis also noted that 'Daugavpils' had a goal incorrectly disallowed against 'Ogre United' (at 0-0, final 3-1). However, a controversial penalty awarded to 'Super Nova' at 0-0 (final 0-2) – which 'Grobiņa' coach Oskars Kļava complained about – was not included in the review.
Other reviewed incidents were deemed correct decisions: no penalty against Alī (episode 1), yellow card for dissent (3), penalty against Lemajič after VAR (4), Puriņš’ red card (5), penalty against Mickēvič (6 – correct, but the referee should have made the decision himself), and overturned penalty against Alī after VAR (10).
Incorrect decisions included: episode 2 – disallowing 'Liepāja's goal; episode 7 – disallowing Ndžikī's goal (erroneous offside call, VAR should have intervened); and episode 9 – no penalty and red card against Puzirevski (hand movement to the head, VAR should have intervened and the opponent should have been sent off).
