Latvia's Football Federation in No Rush to Name FIFA Presidential Favourite
The Latvian Football Federation will wait for the candidate nomination period to end before deciding whom to support in the FIFA presidential election in spring 2027.

The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has announced it will not decide on its preferred candidate for the FIFA presidential election until the official nomination window closes. The election is scheduled for spring 2027.
Artūrs Gaidels, the Secretary General of the LFF, stated during a Latvian Television broadcast that the federation intends to wait for all candidates to be confirmed before making a final choice. This approach, he explained, allows for a thorough assessment of each contender's platform and ensures the decision aligns with the federation's interests.
Gaidels emphasised that there is no need to rush the process, as the priority is to back a candidate who can contribute to the development of football both in Latvia and globally. The LFF will announce its support after the nomination period concludes.
