Lidl to change store opening hours in Latvia from 26 October
Discount retail chain Lidl will change its store hours in Latvia from 26 October: some stores will open earlier, while all stores will open later on Sundays. The company cites shopper flow observations.

Discount supermarket chain Lidl will change the opening hours of its stores in Latvia starting Monday, 26 October. Some stores will open earlier in the morning, while on Sundays all of the chain's stores will open later than before.
What is changing
Both Lidl stores in Daugavpils and the store in Jelgava, at Dobeles šoseja 45a/47, will operate from 7:00 to 22:00, Monday through Saturday.
The remaining Lidl stores in Latvia will be open from 7:30 to 22:00 on weekdays and Saturdays. On Sundays, all stores will open at 8:00 and close at 22:00.
Why the hours are changing
According to Zane Neļķe, communications manager at Lidl Latvija, the changes are linked to customers' shopping habits and observations of shopper flows. She says that as the seasons change, so do shopping habits: as days get shorter, people more often shop straight after work, while at some stores larger crowds already form in the early morning hours.
Neļķe stresses that opening hours are being adjusted for locations where it matters to customers to shop earlier in the morning.
Shopping habits on Sundays also differ from those on weekdays. The company's observations show that people's Sundays usually start later, so store hours will be adjusted to that flow of shoppers.
Shoppers who visit Lidl stores may want to note the new hours, which take effect on 26 October.
