Latvian Defense Minister Raivis Melnis has instructed that radar systems be installed along the entire eastern state border by the end of September. This measure aims to substantially strengthen border defenses against potential threats from unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).

The minister made the announcement on Tuesday, July 21, during the Latvian Television program "Rīta panorāma." He emphasized that the new systems will help monitor and control the airspace near the border more effectively.

The radar systems are planned to be deployed along the full length of the country's eastern border, ensuring continuous surveillance and rapid response to any possible incursions.
