Lielbārži crew finishes sixth at World Championship round in Lithuania despite crashes
Latvian motorsport crew Daniels and Bruno Lielbārži took sixth place in the tenth World Championship round in Lithuania on Sunday, overcoming crashes in both heats.
Latvia's Daniels and Bruno Lielbārži secured sixth place in the tenth round of the World Championship in Lithuania on Sunday. The crew fell in both heats but still managed to finish with a solid result.
In the opening heat, the Latvians briefly moved up to second place, but the race was stopped after several crashes. When the action resumed, the Lielbārži crew themselves crashed, yet recovered to finish seventh. At the start of the second heat they were involved in another crash, but that did not prevent them from taking fifth place.
Belgian Marvin Vanluchene and Dutchman Ben van den Bogaart won both heats. In the same round, Rihards Rupeiks and Estonian Keni Vahter were 13th, while Kaspars Lubgāns and Mārtiņš Antons placed 16th. Lithuanian duo Jons Pirtins and Lotārs Aleksejevs finished one position below Rupeiks in 14th.
After ten rounds, Vanluchene and van den Bogaart lead the standings with 482 points. French pairing Kilian and Evan Prunier have 418, while German Tim Primmer and Austrian Patrick Schneider sit on 401. Lielbārži are sixth with 239 points.
There are 13 rounds on this season's World Championship calendar. Last year the Lielbārži crew finished fourth overall, and in their first full season in 2024 they became vice-champions.
