Lithuanian jailed in UK over trade in stolen luxury car parts
Lithuanian national Osvaldas Ubarevičs has been sentenced to 30 months in prison in the United Kingdom for taking part in a group that stole luxury car parts. He is due to be deported after serving his sentence.

A Crown Court in the United Kingdom has found 31-year-old Lithuanian national Osvaldas Ubarevičs guilty over his role in an organised criminal group. The group stole luxury car parts and kept them in a warehouse near Malmesbury, intending to export them abroad. The case was reported by the BBC.
The court sentenced him to 30 months in prison. After serving the sentence, he is expected to be deported from the country.
How police found the group
Police learned about the premises in Malmesbury in April. On arriving, officers established that the site belonged to organised crime figures who exported stolen car parts overseas.
The warehouse's CCTV cameras had recorded a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. Police stopped it in Hertfordshire two days later. Its cargo area held car parts stolen that same morning, and the van itself turned out to be stolen too.
Scale of the thefts
According to the BBC, Ubarevičs transported the parts to the warehouse from Birmingham. A prosecutor said the group he belonged to stole car parts worth at least £325,000 (about €387,920).
She added that the investigation continues, aiming to identify others involved in the offences and to prevent further activity by organised crime of this kind.
