GB secure three golds at European Rowing Championships

Great Britain enjoyed a successful outing at the European Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy, claiming three gold medals across the women's four, PR3 mixed coxed four, and men's four events.

The women's four crew, comprising Eleanor Brinkhoff, Angharad Broughton, Sarah Marshall, and Holly Youd, went to the front early in the race. They were able to control the pace and, despite a late push from Germany, crossed the line in first place to claim the gold.

In the PR3 mixed coxed four, Frankie Allen, Charlotte Coburn, Josh O'Brien, Jonty Ridley, and cox Omar Al-Miqdadi put on a commanding performance. The British boat led from start to finish and finished almost six seconds clear of the Italian crew, making for a comfortable victory.

The men's four of Theo Bell, Josh Brangan, Sam Ford, and Tom O'Sullivan also found success. They appeared to be in a strong position for most of the race, but Romania closed in during the final stages. Nevertheless, the British crew held on to take the win.

The championships in Varese are serving as a precursor to the 2026 World Championships, which will be held from 24 to 30 August in the Netherlands. Great Britain's men's team that will compete at the Worlds is not present in Italy, as the squad is currently training in Switzerland.
