The United Kingdom has provided Ukraine with secret blueprints that will enable the country to produce its own long-range cruise missiles, rather than relying solely on supplies from abroad.

The announcement was made during Andy Burnham's first visit to Kyiv, where he held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Why it may not be decisive

BBC correspondent Joe Inwood notes that Ukraine continues to face an almost daily barrage of Russian ballistic missile strikes. Given the scale and frequency of these attacks, he suggests that the ability to manufacture long-range cruise missiles domestically may not, on its own, be enough to change the course of the war.

The development follows the UK's earlier supply of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine, and marks a shift toward helping Ukraine build independent production capacity for such weapons rather than depending entirely on continued foreign deliveries.
