In late 2024, 37-year-old Latvian national Kristīne Sparāne was found dead at her home in Spalding, United Kingdom. A forensic pathologist, at the start of the investigation, confirmed that the cause of death was head injuries.

Lincolnshire Police arrested a 64-year-old man on suspicion of the woman's killing. The investigation established that the woman had let the man into her home herself.

Latest court development

In September 2026, the latest decision in the case was announced: the arrested man has been placed in a psychiatric hospital. Further details about the court's reasoning or the case's future proceedings have not yet been made public.

The case has drawn attention in Latvia as well, since the victim was a Latvian citizen who had been living in the UK.
