Teenage girl arrested after cyclist dies in Worcester collision
A man in his 60s died after his bicycle collided with a car in Worcester on Friday night, and a 17-year-old girl who was driving the car has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
A fatal road collision in Worcester on Friday night has led to the arrest of a 17-year-old girl. The crash happened at around 22:15 BST on the A4440 Swinesherd Way, involving a white Suzuki Swift and a man riding a pedal cycle.
The cyclist, a man in his 60s, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The teenage girl who was driving the Suzuki was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. West Mercia Police said she is currently assisting officers with their inquiries.
According to police, the car had been travelling along the A4440 from the junction with Whittington Road onto Swinesherd Way, heading towards the junction with the A44, at the time the collision occurred.
West Mercia Police has appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam footage of the vehicles involved, to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
