UK brings first charges over 1994 Rwanda genocide
Britain's Crown Prosecution Service has for the first time brought charges linked to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. A 65-year-old Rwandan man living in north London has been charged.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has announced the first-ever UK charges connected to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi population in Rwanda.
The man charged is 65 years old and has been living in north London. He is currently known as Dr Vincent Brown but previously went by the name Dr Vincent Bajinya.
He faces one charge of conduct ancillary to genocide and six charges of conduct ancillary to murder as a crime against humanity.
Court appearance
The defendant is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The case is still developing, and further details are expected to be released in the near future.
