A man in his 60s, formerly of Stockport, Greater Manchester, has pleaded guilty to the full set of 60 criminal charges against him at Manchester's Minshull Street crown court. The charges relate to the systematic drugging and sexual assault of his wife over a period of 20 years.

Among the offences he admitted are 21 counts of rape, along with charges of sharing intimate images of his victim without her consent. The man cannot be named publicly in order to protect the identity of his wife, who is the victim in the case.

Guilty pleas entered in two stages

The admissions came in two separate court appearances. In June, the man had already pleaded guilty to 15 of the charges brought against him. On Monday, he returned to court and admitted the remaining 45 charges, bringing his total admissions to all 60 offences he faced.

Family present in court

The man's estranged wife, the victim of the offences, sat in the front row of a packed courtroom alongside other family members as he entered his pleas. She was seen sobbing at points during the proceedings as her husband admitted the crimes one by one.

The case was heard at Manchester's Minshull Street crown court, where the man now faces sentencing having admitted responsibility for all charges against him.
