Liepāja 2027 invites public to write 10,000 letters for installation by Japanese artist
The Liepāja 2027 foundation is inviting people to write personal letters that will become part of an artwork by Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota. The goal is to collect 10,000 letters in total.

The Liepāja 2027 foundation has launched an initiative inviting anyone interested to write a personal letter. These letters will become part of a new artwork titled "The Fabric of Reality," created by internationally renowned Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota.
The goal of the initiative is to collect a total of 10,000 letters, which will be incorporated into the installation. Foundation representatives announced the campaign.
First exhibition in the Baltics
Chiharu Shiota's solo exhibition in Liepāja will be the artist's first individual exhibition in the Baltic states. It will run from March to November 2027 as part of the "Liepāja — European Capital of Culture 2027" program.
The project is designed to involve the wider public in the creation of the artwork, inviting everyone to make a personal contribution by submitting a letter that will later become part of a large-scale installation.
