Liepāja's “In Your and My Liepāja” concerts close to standing ovations
On August 14–15, the Liepāja concert garden “Pūt, vējiņi!” hosted the third edition of the “In Your and My Liepāja” music festival, held for the first time over two days. Organizers plan to continue the tradition next summer.
The Liepāja concert garden “Pūt, vējiņi!” hosted the popular music festival “In Your and My Liepāja” in mid-August, marking its third year and, for the first time, spanning two days with two distinct programs.
A tribute to Imants Kalniņš
On the opening night, August 14, the concert celebrated the music of composer Imants Kalniņš, also marking his 85th birthday. His songs were performed by Ainars Mielavs, Agnese, Igo, Kristiāna Stirāne and actor Gundars Grasbergs, who also hosted the evening. Musicians led by pianist Juris Kristons provided accompaniment.
Liepāja's golden hits
The following day, August 15, featured two concerts titled “Liepāja's Golden Songs,” showcasing beloved classics from the city's pop and rock music history. Performers included Ainars Virga, Uldis Marhilevičs, Igo, Ance Krauze, Emīls Balceris and Marats Ogļezņevs, accompanied by musicians led by pianist Jānis Strazds. As in previous years, an additional late-night concert was also held. The Saturday program was hosted by Maija Kalniņa and Valdis Skujiņš.
Organizers said the festival tradition will continue next summer, with a program dedicated to composer Mārtiņš Freimanis alongside another edition of Liepāja's golden songs.
