In Liepāja, driver hits cyclist; victim hospitalized

Over the past 24 hours, 16 traffic accidents were recorded in the Kurzeme region, one of which resulted in injuries. The State Police received a report about an accident on Pļavu Street in Liepāja on July 23 at approximately 4:20 PM.
Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a Volkswagen, while exiting a territory, did not ensure traffic safety and failed to yield to a female cyclist traveling on the pedestrian path. The collision caused injuries to the cyclist, who was transported to a medical facility.
In total, 96 traffic violation decisions were made during the day, including 26 for speeding. The State Police have initiated an administrative offense process and are clarifying the exact causes of the accident.
