Liepāja fights back from two goals down to draw with Ogre's United

On Friday, in a round-30 match of Latvia's "Tonybet" top football division held in Ogre, Liepāja overturned a two-goal deficit to secure a 2:2 draw against home side Ogre's United.

The visitors were more active early on, but the hosts took the lead. In the 38th minute, following a pass from Arsentijs Dorošenko, Leifs Fernandess directed the ball into the top right corner, putting United ahead 1:0. In the second half, in the 50th minute, Rendijs Šibas volleyed home from a free-kick scramble outside the box to make it 2:0.

Liepāja pulled one back in the 79th minute when Džozefs Ede struck the ball into the bottom right corner, making it 1:2. In stoppage time, following a foul on Leonels Strumijs, the visitors were awarded a penalty, which Ede converted to level the score at 2:2.

Ede extends lead atop scoring charts

With these two goals, Ede has now scored 25 goals in the league this season, maintaining his position as the competition's top scorer, six goals ahead of Riga's Muhamed Badamosi.

United had lost four consecutive league matches before this fixture, while Liepāja had recently beaten Riga and held league leaders RFS to a draw. Liepāja had won all three of the teams' previous meetings this season.

In the standings, RFS lead with 70 points from 28 matches, followed by Riga on 66 and Auda on 56. Liepāja sit on 42 points after 30 games, while Ogre's United are last with 15 points from 29 matches.

The 2026 season is being played over four rounds of fixtures, totalling 180 matches across 36 rounds, with the final round scheduled for November 8.
