Liepāja to Host Conference League Second Round at Slokas Stadium
FK Liepāja will play their home match in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League against Vienna's Austria at Slokas Stadium in Jūrmala, after the pitch at their own stadium was damaged by a concert by the band 'Prāta Vētra'.

FK Liepāja will host their UEFA Conference League second qualifying round match not at their own stadium, but at the Slokas Stadium in Jūrmala. The game against Austrian club FK Austria Wien will take place on Thursday, 23 July, at 18:00 local time. The return leg in Vienna is scheduled a week later.
Club representative Dāvids Jansons explained that the match cannot be held at Liepāja's stadium due to a concert by the band 'Prāta Vētra' scheduled for this weekend. As a result, the grass pitch is severely damaged, casting doubt on whether the team will play any more home games there this season. The alternative venue considered was the Daugavas Stadium in Riga, but the choice ultimately fell on Slokas Stadium.
Liepāja is one of four Latvian teams in the Conference League second qualifying round. The others are RFS and Latvian Cup winners Auda, while Riga dropped down from the Champions League after losing their tie. Vienna's Austria played in the Conference League group stage in the 2022/23 season, but last year they were eliminated in the third qualifying round by Czech side Banik Ostrava.
