Liepāja introduces a revamped public bus network with a time-based ticket allowing transfers between routes, while most passengers will see minimal changes.

Starting July 31, Liepāja will implement a revised public transport bus route network. The majority of passengers will not experience significant changes to their daily commutes, but some routes will be altered, and a new time ticket will enable transfers within a single fare.

The time ticket permits passengers to transfer to another route within 40 minutes of the first registration. This period is not a limit on total travel time; rather, it sets the window for registering the last transfer. Even if the journey to the destination takes an hour or more, it can be completed with the originally registered ticket.

Changes affect only a portion of routes. For example, routes 4 and 10 will now terminate at Siena tirgus, while route 6 will end at Klaipēdas iela near the Baata shopping center. The former route 12 is replaced by direct routes 25 or 25A, operated by smaller buses, or alternative routes with more frequent services, allowing transfers with the time ticket.

Passengers traveling from Karosta or Tosmare to Liepāja Regional Hospital can use routes 3 or 4 and transfer at the "Pagrieziens uz Grīzupes ielu" stop to routes 6 or 9. For those heading from Oskars Kalpaks Bridge to Mirdzas Ķempes iela, transfers can be made at "Koncertzāle" onto routes 3, 6, or the tram, or at "Pētertirgus" using routes 3 or 9. Both cases require only one ticket.

To help navigation, a schematic infographic has been prepared showing an example from Atmodas bulvāris to the southern part of the city, with transfer points, waiting times, and route combinations.

It is important to note that transfers are not mandatory; most residents' trips will remain unchanged. Only in some cases will multiple routes be needed. Key transfer hubs include: "Pagrieziens uz Grīzupes ielu", "Siļķu iela", "Metalurgs", "Koncertzāle", "Līva / Rožu laukums", "Pētertirgus", and "Klaipēdas iela".

Passengers are encouraged to use digital planners such as Google Maps, the website "marsruti.lv", and the mobile app "Liepājas pilsēta" to find the fastest route. The new network was developed based on passenger flow data, and its implementation will be monitored for potential improvements.
