Football Coach Education Seminar Held in Liepāja
On July 27-28, a football coach seminar took place in Liepāja, focusing on modern player development methods and individual growth in youth football.
The Liepāja Football School, in cooperation with the Latvian Football Federation (LFF), organized a two-day coach education seminar on July 27-28. The event featured several LFF representatives: sports director Andrejs Gluščuks, education specialist Deina Pavāre, academy head Kirils Buravcevs, and Kurzeme regional team head coach Jānis Segliņš.
The seminar aimed to introduce participants to modern player development methods, analyze training organization across different age groups, and discuss effective solutions for youth football.
On the first day, the focus was on player development up to age 12. Participants analyzed the basic principles of a modern playing style and the importance of individual growth at this stage. The theoretical session was followed by a practical training session with U10 players, demonstrating modern techniques.
The second day centered on academy football and the development of 14-year-old players. Topics included 11-a-side football principles, tactical solutions, and key game components, covered both theoretically and practically.
One of the main messages was the need to focus more on individual player growth rather than short-term results in training. Competition results are important, but they should not be the sole measure of quality.
During practical sessions, coaches had the opportunity to observe professionals at work and analyze how exercises relate to specific training topics. It was emphasized that even small adjustments can significantly change the intensity and quality of tasks.
Endijs Šlampe, director of Liepāja Football School, noted that many seminar topics are already being integrated into daily work, but such events help solidify knowledge and share experience. He stressed the importance of maintaining focus on each player's individual development and creating an environment where results and growth go hand in hand. Šlampe also thanked the LFF for their responsiveness and expressed a desire to become a strong cooperation partner for sports schools in the Kurzeme region, continuing to organize similar seminars.
