Police in Liepāja Find 10-Year-Old Boy in Neglect, Unsanitary Conditions
A 41-year-old mother in Liepāja left her 10-year-old son unsupervised and without food while she partied for two days. Police discovered unsanitary conditions in the apartment.

State Police in Liepāja have uncovered a case of severe child neglect. A 10-year-old boy was found in an apartment littered with alcohol bottles and cigarette smoke, having spent the entire evening on a tablet computer.
His 41-year-old mother was in a nearby apartment, partying for the second consecutive day. When approached by officers, she was unable to communicate clearly. It turned out she had left her home the previous day, leaving the boy alone without food.
The following day, a friend of the woman brought the boy to his mother. He was reportedly fed some dumplings, after which the partying continued until police arrived.
Inspecting the apartment, officers found unsanitary conditions – sticky floors, alcohol bottles, cockroaches and other insects. The child's parents had previously come to the attention of law enforcement, according to police.
