The South Kurzeme prosecutor's office concluded a criminal case in October, via a prosecutor's penal order, against a man who tried to lure a minor in Liepāja, Latvia. The portal liepajniekiem.lv reported the case. As punishment, the man was placed under probation supervision for two years.

According to the report, the man corresponded in the spring with a 15-year-old boy on the dating app Grindr, which is intended for gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community members. Prosecutors say he knew he was communicating with a minor, and during the exchange urged the teenager to meet on Liepāja beach in order to engage in sexual activity.

Detention

Police managed to detain the man the same day. Amphetamine was found on him, so he was held both for attempting to seduce a minor while aware of the person's age and for the unauthorised purchase and possession of a psychotropic substance.

About the man

The man does not deny guilt and says he regrets what he did. He has no previous convictions. Available information indicates that he receives a long-service pension.
