On Friday, September 12, in the "Optibet" hockey league, home team Liepājas HK defeated HK Prizma/RTU 4:2, with period scores of 1:0, 2:1 and 1:1.

It was only Liepāja's second game of the season, and already the second against Prizma specifically — the team opened its season with a 4:2 win over the same opponent. Prizma, meanwhile, had beaten Vilnius' Hockey Punks 4:3 in its own season opener.

Game summary

In the first period, the Riga-based team had more shots on goal, but Liepāja opened the scoring through Kārlis Ozoliņš, who netted a shorthanded goal. In the second period, Šarūns Baltrūns doubled Liepāja's lead on the power play, before Emīls Ezītis pulled one back for Prizma. Late in the period, Petru Iso-Korti restored the two-goal cushion, making it 3:1.

In the third period, Prizma had a power play but turned the puck over, allowing Iso-Korti to break away and score his second shorthanded goal of the game, making it 4:1. Shortly after, Kristaps Riekstiņš narrowed the gap to 2:4, but Prizma could not complete the comeback.

Shots on goal favored Prizma 30:21, with Mihails Valenta and Artūrs Skrebutens in goal for the respective teams.

Following the result, HK Mogo/RSU leads the league standings with two wins from two games, while Liepājas HK sits second with the same record.
