Liepāja Hockey Team Beats Mogo/RSU in Shootout for Third Straight Win

Liepāja's hockey team defeated Mogo/RSU 2:1 in a shootout in an OHL game, securing its third consecutive victory this season.

Liepāja Hockey Team earned a home win over Mogo/RSU on Wednesday in the Optibet Hockey League (OHL), with the game ending 2:1 in Liepāja's favor after a penalty shootout.

Liepāja took the lead in the middle of the first period through Adrians Bērziņš, but the visitors equalized just over a minute before the end of regulation time when Kristaps Skrastiņš found the net. The score remained unchanged through overtime, sending the match to a shootout, where Liepāja's Dāniels Andersons and Šarūnas Baltrūnas converted their attempts. Mogo/RSU players were unable to beat home goaltender Mihael Valents in the shootout.

Kyiv Capitals crushed Vilnius Hockey Punks 6:1 at home, with Deivids Sarkanis contributing two goals and two assists. Rīga HS/Dinaburga lost 2:4 away to Tallinn Panter, with Armands Apsītis and Artūrs Ševčenko scoring for the Latvian side.

After these games, Liepāja Hockey Team has accumulated six points from three matches, while Mogo/RSU sits on five points. Nine teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Ukraine are competing in this season's OHL, with each playing 32 games in the regular season before the top six advance to the playoffs. The playoff winner will be crowned Baltic champion; last season Mogo/RSU claimed the title for the third consecutive year.
