Real FDI, a publication series that regularly highlights the most attractive investment projects across different regions and sectors worldwide, has released its 2026 list of the top 10 industrial and logistics projects. Liepāja Industrial Park is among the ten selected projects, the Liepāja Special Economic Zone (LSEZ) authority reports.

According to the publication, in today's global competition for investment, the most attractive locations are those offering not just available land but also modern infrastructure, secure energy supply, strong logistics connections, and an ecosystem suited to contemporary manufacturing. The listed projects showcase a range of development models, from large industrial hubs in Germany and Spain to newer logistics centers in Iceland, Romania, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Latvia.

Sustainability built in from the start

The Liepāja project was singled out for having sustainability embedded in its foundation, with clearly defined principles around education, innovation and the circular economy. The park is being built on the site of the former Liepājas Metalurgs steel plant, which is gradually being restored and repurposed, making it accessible to the public and attractive to investors.

Scale of the project

The industrial park is being jointly developed by the Liepāja Special Economic Zone authority and the Liepāja city municipality, on a site bounded by Brīvības, Meldru, Ezermalas, Parka and Zemnieku streets. The territory borders Lake Liepāja, a protected NATURA 2000 nature area.

Under the approved development strategy, the project aims to attract more than 275 million euros in private investment and create at least 1,500 new jobs.
