Lemon Painting Masterclass by Artist Ādams Tills at Liepāja Interior Museum
On July 12, the Liepāja Interior Museum will host a painting masterclass led by artist Ādams Tills, where participants will learn classical oil painting techniques by painting lemons.

On Sunday, July 12, at 12:00 PM, the Liepāja 17th–19th Century Interior Museum “Hoijeres kundzes viesu nams” (Kungu iela 24) will host a painting masterclass titled “Beautiful Lemon / Vitamin Boost” led by artist Ādams Tills. Participants will explore classical oil painting techniques and create their own work inspired by the old masters.
In the history of painting, citrus fruits symbolize prosperity and the joy of life. They were especially popular in 17th-century Dutch and Italian still lifes, where they signified wealth, exoticism, and refinement. This time, participants will paint lemons, a classic motif in European painting.
The session will begin with a simple drawing and a traditional underpainting using the Flemish technique. Then, the work will be glazed with transparent oil paints, adding realistic details, textures, and highlights. Oil paints allow for fine, detailed work and rich color depth.
Ādams Tills (born 1981) is a painter educated at the Art Academy of Latvia and Casper College in Wyoming, USA. He has been actively participating in exhibitions since 2005, held solo shows in Latvia and abroad, and regularly teaches painting courses and masterclasses.
During the masterclass, Tills will demonstrate various techniques, answer questions, and discuss painting traditions. The workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike. It lasts three hours, and all necessary materials are included in the participation fee.
Due to limited space, interested participants are asked to register in advance by calling 29905180 or emailing interjeramuzejs@liepaja.lv.
