Liepāja's top scorer Vutkevičs heads to France for second stint abroad
Former Liepāja hockey player Vutkevičs has left the club after one season to join France's Valence, which won its third-tier league and was promoted to the second division. This marks his second experience playing abroad.
Hockey player Vutkevičs has left Liepāja after just one season with the club to continue his career in France.
During the past season, Vutkevičs was one of Liepāja's leading players. In 39 regular-season games he scored 53 points, comprising 22 goals and 31 assists. In the playoffs, over ten games, he added 12 assists and one goal.
Previous experience
Before joining Liepāja, Vutkevičs had also played in Finland, though he spent most of his career within Latvian club systems, including the Riga Hockey School and Zemgale/LBTU. The move to France represents only his second stint playing abroad.
New club
Vutkevičs' new team, Valence, competed in France's third-tier league last season and finished first in the standings, earning promotion to the second division.
