The Liepāja Museum, at 16/18 Kūrmāja Avenue in the western Latvian city of Liepāja, will open an exhibition of works by lecturers from the Glass Art Department of the Art Academy of Latvia (LMA) on Friday, 23 October, at 5 p.m. The show is titled "Future Horizons" ("Nākotnes perspektīvas") and features a variety of artworks built around glass as a material. It will be on display in the museum's enfilade until 20 December.

Participants

The exhibition brings together glass artists known in Latvia and internationally: Agnese Gedule, Ernests Vītiņš, Ilze Dūdiņa, Inita Ēmane, Inguna Audere, Vineta Groza, Santa Bekmane and Sandra Utāne. Their works will be shown alongside a piece by the late glass artist Viktors Jansons, "Pine Cone from Bayreuth", which combines glass, brick and a pine cone.

About the display

The organisers invite visitors to appreciate the craftsmanship and design that the artists show in individual works, using the interplay of different materials and an interdisciplinary approach. The works reflect a link with tradition while also placing themselves in a contemporary context.

In this exhibition, glass becomes a metaphor for transparency, fragility, and the ability to change and adapt. Light will play a key role in the display, highlighting the optical properties of the material.
