Liepaja Museum Shows Fragment of Anda Munkevica’s International Art Project ‘Table for Peace’

The Liepaja Museum is presenting a new exhibition titled “Closer to Home” (Tuvāk mājām), showcasing works by artist Anda Munkevica. The show includes a fragment of her international project “Table for Peace,” a piece described as a deeply philosophical and humane statement of solidarity with Ukraine. The installation consists of handprints contributed by people from various countries.

In addition to this global project, Munkevica’s exhibition explores family memories and a sense of belonging to the Kurzeme region. Through her works, she reflects on the values that shape personal identity, inviting visitors to consider how memory, place and heritage intersect. The exhibition combines a universal message of peace with intimate reflections on home and roots.

“Closer to Home” is now on view at the Liepaja Museum, offering audiences a chance to engage with the artist’s multifaceted practice. While “Table for Peace” addresses urgent questions of war and humanity, the exhibition as a whole encourages deeper thought about what forms individual and collective identity in today’s world.
