Liepāja's 'Pegaza Pagalms' to host five events as summer winds down
From August 26 to 30, the Liepāja venue 'Pegaza Pagalms' is hosting five varied events, ranging from international jazz and funk concerts to a bingo night, a summer closing dance and a youth concert.
As August draws to a close, the Liepāja cultural venue 'Pegaza Pagalms' is hosting a series of events to mark the end of summer.
On August 26 at 20:00, Cypriot jazz pianist and composer Christos Yerolatsitis will perform with his project 'Christos Yerolatsitis' Unity.' He will be joined on stage by Cypriot musicians — bassist Cahit Kutrafali and drummer Stelios Xydias — along with Latvian saxophonist and educator Toms Rudzinskis. The concert will feature original compositions blending post-bop traditions with improvisation. Admission is free, with support from the State Culture Capital Foundation.
On August 27 at 19:00, a Bingo Fest and karaoke evening will take place, combining classic bingo with new game elements, including a 'people bingo' aimed at helping guests get to know each other, followed by open karaoke singing. Admission is free.
On August 28 at 20:00, the band FunCOOLio will take the stage with their self-styled 'Baltic Fusion' sound, blending funk, jazz improvisation and complex rhythms, presenting a new instrumental program. The event is supported by a Liepāja Culture Department project grant, with free admission.
On August 29 at 20:00, a summer closing dance will be held with the Latvian band 'Apvedceļš,' known for hits such as 'Zemenes,' 'Margrietiņa,' 'Gaujai' and 'Saulespuķe.' Doors open at 19:00, and tickets are available through 'Biļešu paradīze' box offices and online.
On August 30 at 12:00, students of the Pop Rok school will perform in a 'Back to School' concert to welcome the new school year with music. Admission is free.
