On 24 October the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will give a concert of Viennese classical music in the White Hall of Rundāle Palace. The soloist will be Lithuanian pianist Kaspars Uinskis, with Atvars Lakstīgala conducting.

On Saturday, 24 October, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will perform in the White Hall of Rundāle Palace in Bauska municipality, Latvia. The programme features music by the Viennese classical composers Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven. The centrepiece is Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto, with Lithuanian pianist Kaspars Uinskis as soloist and Atvars Lakstīgala conducting. The orchestra's representative, Iveta Vēvere, informed the news portal of the details.
The concert belongs to the orchestra's series "Liepāja Sounds at Rundāle Palace". Organisers describe the evening as a journey through three different but interconnected musical worlds, from nobility and generosity to human inner experience and joyful harmony.
Continuing an earlier collaboration
Uinskis and Lakstīgala first performed together in 2013 at the Pianism Stars festival in Liepāja, and two years later gave a joint concert in Vilnius. Closer cooperation with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra began in 2025 with performances of Frédéric Chopin's piano concertos at the "Great Amber" concert hall and the Vilnius Philharmonic. A recording of the First and Second Concertos was later released by the label Hänssler Classics.
The album has drawn attention from the international classical music press. MusicWeb International highlighted Uinskis's lyricism, virtuosity and live-concert energy, while France's ARTAMAG' noted the pianist's tonal richness and the orchestra's performance. Germany's Piano News pointed to his "singing qualities" and his harmonic dialogue with the orchestra.
The soloist's words
Uinskis calls the collaboration with the orchestra and the conductor exceptionally natural, citing a similar emotional bond with music and a sense of mutual trust. He also praised the orchestra's dedication and work culture, and described the Chopin recording as an important turning point in their work together.
Tickets for the orchestra's concerts are available through the "Biļešu paradīze" network. The concerts are supported by the Latvian Ministry of Culture.
