Liepāja's Ede Oloko named Virslīga player of August
Liepāja striker Joseph Ede Oloko has been named Latvia's Virslīga player of the month for August for the second time this season after scoring five goals and providing four assists. Auda head coach Didier Zganeti was named coach of the month.

Liepāja played five Virslīga matches in August, winning three — against Super Nova (2:1), Grobiņa (3:1) and Riga (3:2) — while losing to Tukums 2000 (1:2) and, in a rescheduled round 23 fixture, to Auda (0:1).
A key figure in the team's results was 25-year-old Nigerian forward Joseph Ede Oloko, who featured in four of the five matches. Against Grobiņa and Riga he scored two goals and added an assist in each game, while against Super Nova he contributed two assists. He scored once in the loss to Tukums 2000 but missed the Auda match due to suspension. In total, he recorded five goals and four assists in August.
Third season in the Virslīga
This is Ede's third Virslīga season. In 2024, playing for Jelgava, he scored 11 goals in 26 appearances. In 2025 he moved to Liepāja, where he made 19 league appearances, scoring once and providing one assist. This season he began on loan at Tukums 2000, scoring 16 goals in 16 matches, before returning to Liepāja, where he has already tallied seven goals and five assists in nine appearances.
This marks Ede Oloko's second player-of-the-month award this season — he first won it in May while still with Tukums 2000. With 23 goals in total, he is currently the Virslīga's top scorer, ahead of Muhamed Badamosi's 19.
Other nominees for August included Badamosi, Martins Hašek, Jānis Beks, Musa Ouedraogo and Yevgeni Minin. The award is decided by a vote among Latvian sports media representatives and fans on social media.
Zganeti named coach of the month
The Latvian Football Federation's coaching council named Auda head coach Didier Zganeti, a Frenchman, as August's best coach. Under him, Auda won three of four matches and drew 1:1 with Super Nova, beating Jelgava, Tukums 2000 and Liepāja. Zganeti has led Auda since late 2025 and has already won the 2025 Latvian Cup with the club. This is his first coach-of-the-month award; earlier this season the honor went to Viktors Morozs and Adrians Guļa, both of FC RFS.
