Heavy rains cause crop damage at seed company 'Krastmaļi' in Kurzeme

Following intense rainfall in the Kurzeme region, the seed production company "Krastmaļi", located in Dunalka parish of Dienvidkurzeme municipality, has faced several crop issues. Oil radish crops have partially lodged, meaning the stems have bent or fallen over, complicating harvest. In some places, other crops are lying in water. The pea harvest has not succeeded this year. On a positive note, red fescue has been successfully threshed and is being exported to Italy and other countries. Red fescue is a valuable grass seed used for lawns. The company specializes in seed growing, and the rains have impacted a portion of the fields. The exact extent of losses has not been disclosed.
