Heavy rains and drone news reduce tourist flow on Kurzeme coast
Heavy rains and news about drones are affecting tourism on the Kurzeme coast. German tourists follow geopolitical news, while Lithuanians focus on weather conditions.

The Kurzeme coast is experiencing a decline in tourist numbers due to heavy rains and reports about drones. According to Latvian Radio, a representative of the Laikas guest house in Ziemupe, South Kurzeme region, stated that these factors affect travelers from different countries in varying ways. German tourists closely monitor the geopolitical situation, and negative security-related news, such as drone incidents, discourages them from traveling to Latvia. In contrast, Lithuanian tourists are more influenced by weather conditions – during rainy weather, seaside campsites are noticeably emptier. The Laikas guest house confirms that in wet and cool periods, the number of guests drops significantly compared to sunny days. This trend indicates that tourism on the Kurzeme coast is sensitive to short-term external factors, including weather and international events.
