Lithuania dismisses border guard service commander Rustamas Liubajevas

Lithuania's government on Wednesday removed Rustamas Liubajevas from his post as commander of the State Border Guard Service. The decision was made during a government session.

The Lithuanian government on Wednesday decided to dismiss General Rustamas Liubajevas from his position as commander of the State Border Guard Service (VSAT).

The leadership change at the border agency comes at a time when Lithuania's border with Belarus has drawn significant attention in recent years due to migration pressure and regional security concerns.

It is not yet known who will take over the commander's position, and detailed reasons behind the decision have not been made public.
