Lithuanian investigators search homes of five Nemunas Dawn board members
Lithuanian law enforcement searched the homes of five Nemunas Dawn party board members, who are also lawmakers, as part of an ongoing investigation into vehicle rentals to the party. No one has been formally charged yet, and the probe continues.
Lithuania's Financial Crime Investigation Service carried out searches Tuesday morning at the homes of five board members of the Nemunas Dawn party, the Prosecutor General's Office said. The action forms part of a previously opened investigation into the circumstances surrounding car rentals provided to the party.
The five individuals targeted, all of whom serve on the party's 11-member board and are also members of parliament, were Robertas Puchovičius, Kęstutis Bilius, Daiva Žebelienė, Lina Šukytė-Korsakė and Tadas Sadauskis. News of the searches first emerged through reports by BNS and the 15min news portal.
Nemunas Dawn's leader, Remigijus Žemaitaitis, confirmed the searches during an interview with LRT RADIO on Tuesday. He said a pretrial investigation was underway and that evidence needed to be collected in full, adding that the process would ultimately provide answers to the questions raised.
Part of a broader probe
The Prosecutor General's Office said the latest searches connect to an investigation opened earlier concerning vehicles rented out to the party. In May, investigators had already searched the workplaces and homes of Žemaitaitis and fellow board member Daiva Petkevičienė, along with the party's headquarters, in relation to the same case.
Prosecutors are examining whether a criminal offence occurred when Žemaitaitis and Petkevičienė rented their own personal vehicles to the party while continuing to use those same vehicles themselves. Officials confirmed the investigation remains ongoing and that no formal charges have been brought against anyone at this stage.
