Lithuania not planning to follow Latvia in banning bus routes to Belarus and Russia
Lithuania's transport minister Jurgis Taminskas said the country currently has no plans to follow Latvia's example and ban bus service to Belarus and Russia.
Lithuanian Transport Minister Jurgis Taminskas said on Wednesday that the government does not currently plan to ban bus routes to Belarus and Russia.
The minister was responding to a proposal from opposition MP Arvydas Anušauskas, who suggested Lithuania follow Latvia's example and introduce such a ban.
Taminskas indicated that such a step is not currently part of Lithuania's transport policy plans, without providing further explanation or specifying conditions that might change this position in the future.
The question of restricting bus traffic with both neighboring countries has become relevant in the region since Latvia introduced its own ban, with opposition figures in Lithuania calling for similar measures.
