Lithuania sends critical energy equipment to Kyiv and Zhytomyr oblasts
Lithuania has delivered a new batch of energy equipment to Ukraine's Kyiv and Zhytomyr oblasts, weighing more than 28 tonnes in total.
Ukraine's Kyiv and Zhytomyr oblasts have received a fresh shipment of critical energy equipment from Lithuania, Ukraine's Ministry of Energy announced on X, as reported by European Pravda.
The consignment weighs a total of 28.31 tonnes and includes transformers, surge protection equipment, an electric motor and other components required for power grid operation. According to the ministry, the equipment will help keep the grid running reliably and support repairs and replacement of damaged infrastructure.
Ukrainian officials thanked the people of Lithuania along with electricity transmission operator Litgrid AB, electricity distribution operator Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius, gas transmission company Amber Grid, and the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which handled logistics for the delivery.
Wider support effort
The shipment follows a report on 26 August that frontline areas of Sumy Oblast received equipment from Sweden to physically protect energy infrastructure. Separately, Latvia's Ministry of Economics said it plans to use remaining funds to purchase 12 additional diesel generators, on top of an earlier decision to buy generators for Chernihiv Oblast.
