Lithuania's Foreign Minister: Putin's peace statements not worth a cent
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys said Putin's claims of wanting peace are worthless after new Russian strikes on Odesa. He called for continued arms support and sanctions against Russia.
Lithuania's Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys reacted sharply on X to Russia's latest attacks on Ukraine, including strikes on Odesa and the Odesa region.
The minister urged the world to never trust Russian President Vladimir Putin's words. According to Budrys, Putin's claims that Russia wants to end the war through negotiations are not worth even half a kopeck. He said that while Putin does everything possible to deceive the world in yet another attempt to avoid additional sanctions against the Kremlin's military machine and economy, Russian missiles and drones continue to kill innocent Ukrainian civilians.
The only language Putin understands
Budrys stressed that the only language Putin truly understands is the language of strength — more weapons for Ukraine and more sanctions against Russia and its accomplices.
The Lithuanian minister also expressed support for Ukraine, saying the country is going through very difficult times but is not alone and never will be. He said Lithuania and other international partners support Ukraine and will continue to do so for as long as it takes to defeat the aggressor.
The statement came in the same week that US President Donald Trump said he had a "great" conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin earlier in the week, and that the Russian leader wants to reach a deal to end the war in Ukraine.
