The Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue Service (TOPR) reported that two Lithuanian tourists were rescued by helicopter after getting stranded in the Polish Tatra Mountains while following directions from an artificial intelligence chatbot. The emergency call was received on the afternoon of July 4. The hikers contacted rescuers from the area around Świnica, the highest peak in the Zakopane region, after finding themselves trapped near the summit of Niebieska Turnia.

According to rescuers, the pair attempted to shorten their route to the Valley of the Five Lakes and relied on guidance generated by an AI tool. This led them onto a path they were unable to complete independently. "They were safely evacuated by helicopter," TOPR stated.

The rescue service noted that it assisted 55 people during the first week of July, with July 4 being the busiest day, when rescuers helped a total of 25 individuals.
