Lithuanian woman who started as a cleaner now runs her own cleaning company

From Cleaner to CEO

Lithuanian Goda Pečulīte, despite having a degree in finance, decided to take up cleaning as a side job for extra income. Her relatives advised her to find a job more suited to her education, but she persisted. Today, she runs her own cleaning company, "Balti namai," and is not ashamed to clean clients' homes herself.

Her journey did not start with a classic dream of entrepreneurship. After finishing her finance studies, she worked at a publishing house but was unsatisfied with the salary. She spotted an ad for a cleaner, applied, and went for an interview. The employer was surprised to see a young woman in office attire, not fitting the typical image of a cleaner. Nevertheless, they agreed to cooperate.

The first work day was memorable. "I stood there, watching the toilet being cleaned, and thought, 'What am I doing here? I have never done this before,'" she recalls. Despite attempts by friends and family to dissuade her, suggesting she find a more normal job, she decided to give it a try, initially thinking it would be temporary.

Thus began her dual life – office work during the day and cleaning clients' homes and offices in the evenings. Initially, only her closest circle knew about her job, as many considered it shameful. Over the years, attitudes have changed. Now, she leads her own cleaning company and still cleans herself when needed.
