Participants updated their knowledge on language and culture topics and exchanged teaching experience.
The annual summer seminar for university lecturers of Latvian language courses was held this year from 28 to 30 July in the scenic town of Līgatne, at the creative quarter “Zeit”. The event reunited Lettonists from Lithuania, Poland, Finland, Germany, and Sweden, as well as representatives from Latvian universities.
During the seminar, participants broadened their knowledge on a range of subjects, including contemporary literature, traditions of Latvian place-name formation, the role of voice in working with an audience, current theatre events, language consultation issues, and the potential of artificial intelligence in language learning. There were also opportunities to share experiences of teaching Latvian at universities around the world.
A special atmosphere was created by a walk through Līgatne led by Raimonds Briedis, professor at the Latvian Academy of Culture. Organisers thanked the lecturers, participants, and everyone who contributed to this inspiring meeting and strengthened the international community of Lettonists.
