Bat Night Adventure to take place in Līgatne Nature Trails
On July 31, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Līgatne Nature Trails will host the Bat Night Adventure, featuring educational activities and a bat-watching walk.

The Līgatne Nature Trails will host a “Bat Night Adventure” on July 31 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., according to the Nature Conservation Agency. Visitors can expect educational and creative activities, while bat researcher Viesturs Vintulis will share intriguing facts about bat life, habits, and their role in nature.
After dusk, participants will walk along the trails equipped with special devices to hear the sounds of bats. Organizers recommend bringing a flashlight and insect repellent.
The Līgatne Nature Trails are located in the Gauja River valley, which provides ideal conditions for bats. The old, diverse forests offer abundant feeding grounds with various insects, as well as old trees with cavities and crevices suitable for resting, hibernation, and hunting. Latvia is home to 16 bat species, all protected. In the Līgatne area, species such as the northern bat and the rufous evening bat can be found.
Established in 1975 within Gauja National Park, the Līgatne Nature Trails aim to introduce visitors to Latvia's biodiversity and local wild plant and animal species.
