The Kalnciema Quarter gallery in Riga is currently hosting a new solo exhibition by artist Lilija Dinere, titled "Totems. Stillness and Life at Once." The show brings together the artist's most recent works, combining several distinct techniques and approaches.
A blend of materials and techniques
On display are found objects that Dinere has transformed into artworks, alongside digital graphics and painted natural objects. This variety allows the artist to merge the natural and the digital, giving everyday or randomly found items a new, artistically considered meaning.
A cosmos in the tiniest fragment
Describing her creative approach, the artist has said that even the smallest fragment contains an entire cosmos. This idea reflects the contrast embedded in the exhibition's title – stillness paired with life, present even in seemingly insignificant or static objects.
The exhibition demonstrates the artist's sensitivity to detail and her ability to find deeper meaning in everyday or naturally found objects, transforming them into works of art.
