Actress Lily Collins, known for her role in “Emily in Paris,” had long feared that her father, legendary musician Phil Collins, might not recover from a severe health crisis brought on by his battle with alcoholism. All of his children had come to say their final goodbyes. Collins himself shared this experience in an interview published in The Sunday Times on August 3.

The 75-year-old musician recalled April 2024, when he was unconscious in a Swiss clinic. His longtime manager contacted the family to discuss whether to keep him alive with the help of medical equipment. Collins admitted that his kidneys were failing and other organs had stopped working. He also said that people came to say goodbye, even though he has no memory of that. His loved ones feared they would never see him again.

Collins has never hidden his alcohol addiction. In November 2023, he was first hospitalized due to health complications caused by alcohol use. He was discharged before Christmas, but soon taken back to a clinic and placed in intensive care. In total, he spent seven months in the hospital.

After his recovery, Collins met his family again in London. A particularly emotional moment was with his daughter Lily, who sat beside him and admitted with tears in her eyes that she had not expected to experience such moments again. The musician described the meeting as unforgettable and wonderful.

This reunion became another step toward restoring the father-daughter relationship. In her 2017 memoir, Lily openly wrote about the difficulties of growing up with a famous father who was largely absent during her childhood. Later, she publicly stated that she had forgiven him.
