Printing company Livonia Print will receive a €6.3 million loan from bank Luminor, intended for the purchase of new production equipment. The company employs about 550 specialists and produces more than 60% of all books printed in Latvia, exporting the vast majority of its output — around 97% goes to foreign markets, primarily Germany and the Scandinavian countries.

Modernization to strengthen competitiveness

The new equipment will allow the company to optimize production processes, maintain cost efficiency and uphold high quality standards for international clients. Ilze Zoltnere, Head of the Corporate Department at Luminor Bank Latvia, notes that in the printing and publishing industry, market leadership depends on operational efficiency, ongoing technological development and strong international partnerships, adding that demand in the book publishing segment is now stabilizing after a more difficult period.

Demand recovers after years of inventory reduction

Following several years of industry-wide inventory reduction trends, demand in the sector began recovering at the start of 2025. Livonia Print forecasts revenue growth of approximately 7% this year. The company's CFO, Roberts Ēriks Sniedze, explains that the investment aligns with the strategic goal of preserving market share, ensuring stable production volumes and offering competitive prices to leading international publishers, while also strengthening positions in the Scandinavian and German markets and supporting growth in developing markets such as France and the United Kingdom.

Livonia Print serves a diverse client portfolio of more than 700 clients in 24 countries, including well-known publishing groups such as Bonnier, Egmont and Penguin Group.
