Ministry recommends raising minimum wage to €835 by 2027

The Ministry of Welfare (LM) has stated in its report on the minimum wage situation for 2026 that, according to the reference value defined in current legal acts, the minimum monthly wage should be increased to €835 by 2027.

This recommendation follows the official methodology used to calculate the minimum wage. The LM report is prepared annually and serves as a basis for government decisions on the minimum wage level. Currently, the existing minimum wage in Latvia is lower than the proposed amount, although the report does not provide a detailed comparison with the current figure.

The ministry emphasizes that the proposal is based on objective criteria and complies with regulatory requirements. The planned increase is part of a long-term policy to bring the minimum wage closer to the national average wage.
