The guest of the Latvian programme "Daudz laimes, jubilār!" ("Happy Birthday, Jubilarian!"), featured by the LSM news portal, is composer and singer Lolita Vambute. The programme looks at the pioneers of Latvian light music and the paths they took.
Vambute was born in the same year as composer Raimonds Pauls, often called the Maestro. Like him, she represents the beginnings of Latvian light music. The programme's description calls her a Latvian national treasure.
She is the first woman in Latvia to compose pop (estrada) songs, and she also performed her own songs. The programme describes her as an artist with a distinctive elegance and grace.
Her musical path began with teaching herself to play the piano. It led her to carefully considered pop stage performances.
