Chelsea target Rayo Vallecano defender in search of experience
Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 28-year-old Rayo Vallecano defender Chavarria for around €30 million. The London club have already added several experienced players this summer.
Chelsea are turning their attention to Chavarria, a defender from Spanish club Rayo Vallecano. According to unofficial reports, the London club could pay around €30 million for the 28-year-old.
Chavarria has not played at a higher level than Rayo Vallecano in his career so far. The Spanish side usually sit in the middle of the La Liga table. He joined the club in 2022, with the transfer fee reported at €1.8 million. Last season, the defender featured in 44 matches, including eight in the UEFA Conference League. Rayo Vallecano reached the final of that competition but lost to English Premier League side Crystal Palace. Chavarria has never represented Spain's national team.
Chelsea have already added several experienced players to their squad this summer. Danny Welbeck, 35, and Jordan Henderson, 36, have both joined the club. The London side have also completed the signing of Morgan Rogers for nearly €140 million. As a result, Chelsea continue to focus on bringing in players with experience.
