London-based startup Metris Energy has announced a €4.35 million ($5 million) Seed funding round while unveiling Metria AI, a new artificial intelligence interface designed to carry out complex tasks previously handled manually by operations teams.

The round was led by PT1 Ventures, Octopus Ventures, AENU and Blackfinch Ventures, with additional participation from Plug and Play and Love Ventures. This follows a €2.3 million pre-Seed round the company raised in January 2024, led by Octopus Ventures and Aenu VC. With the new investment, Metris has now raised a total of €6.53 million ($7.5 million) since its founding.

Building a unified data layer for energy

Founder and CEO Natasha Jones said the winners of the energy transition will be those who can best view, control and monetise their assets, not simply those who own the most generating capacity. Metris was established in 2025 by Jones, a former Octopus VC employee, together with software engineer and serial founder William Whatley, who according to his LinkedIn profile left the company in March 2025.

The company began by consolidating scattered data from inverters, meters, SCADA systems, CRMs and finance tools into a single reliable record. It has since broadened its ambition, positioning itself as an AI-native operating system for renewable energy owners and operators, bringing together asset performance, revenue and operational data in one platform.

Metris points out that global energy transactions total around €4.35 trillion annually, yet most power producers still rely on spreadsheets to manage operations. As electricity grids become more decentralised, new revenue opportunities are emerging — including flexibility services, curtailment management, community energy and corporate power purchase agreements — but the underlying data remains scattered across disconnected systems.

Fabian Koenig, Partner at PT1 Ventures, said Metris is building the data infrastructure that makes energy assets visible in real time and enables AI to transform the sector.

The fresh capital will fund expansion of the platform's AI-driven capabilities and extend its reach into wind and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems. Metris also plans to grow its presence across Europe, with a particular focus on Germany, where it has already signed several new customers. The company reports eightfold year-on-year revenue growth and currently manages more than 10,000 solar plants with a combined capacity of 500MW.
